Sharjah Police, in collaboration with Sharjah City Municipality, have launched a "Security Monitoring" initiative to enhance safety at construction sites. The project, piloted in the Al Shanouf area, aims to create safer and more sustainable construction zones through smart, preventive security measures. These measures include installing surveillance cameras, providing 24/7 security guards, and conducting regular site visits. Contractors are encouraged to report any suspicious activity in real-time with updates and photos.
Since the initiative's launch in March, no security incidents have been reported, reflecting the program's success. Colonel Abdullah Al Mulla, head of Al Saja’a Police Station, emphasized the importance of teamwork and quick communication between the police, contractors, and the community. Contractors were provided with tools to protect their sites and, in return, kept the police informed, sharing updates and helping them stay vigilant.
The high level of cooperation has been key to maintaining safety. Contractors understood their responsibilities and followed safety advice, becoming partners in protecting the area. The police plan to expand the initiative to other areas of Sharjah, aiming to make safety a standard part of every construction project. The goal is to build not just buildings, but a secure and trusted environment that supports Sharjah's development.
