Dubai is expanding its "Hewi Dubai" initiative, aiming to strengthen community life by developing welcoming spaces in Al Barsha and Muhaisnah. This initiative, a partnership between Dubai Municipality, the General Construction Company, and Binghatti, seeks to create areas that encourage social interaction and reflect local identity. The goal is to improve the quality of life by focusing on neighborhoods and shared public spaces in urban development.
The Hewi Dubai project builds upon the success of its first phase in Nad Al Sheba 4, which reintroduced the concept of the "hewi" as a modern neighborhood courtyard inspired by Emirati culture. These spaces are designed to foster connection and support everyday life by encouraging people to meet, interact, and feel connected. The initiative aims to blend modern urban living with the values of the traditional Emirati fareej, preserving a sense of belonging and shared identity.
Key features of Hewi Dubai include the "Dajja," a semi-open space for quiet gatherings near mosques, and the "Saha," a flexible area for meetings, celebrations, and community events. The "Saha" also provides space for children to play. These elements aim to keep the spirit of the fareej alive through everyday community life, meeting the needs of today's residents.
