Miral Group's CEO, Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi, has reaffirmed the company's commitment to bringing Disneyland to Abu Dhabi, signaling continued progress on the highly anticipated project. In a LinkedIn post, Al Zaabi congratulated Thomas Mazloum on his appointment as Chairman of Disney Experiences, highlighting the ongoing collaboration between Miral and The Walt Disney Company. The project is set to be the first Disney theme park in the Middle East.
The Disneyland Abu Dhabi project, announced in May 2025, will be Disney's seventh global resort, joining existing parks worldwide. Images shared by Bob Iger from a site visit to Yas Island suggest a waterfront setting, with Yas North being the likely location due to its capacity. Yas Island already hosts major attractions, solidifying its position as a key entertainment hub in the UAE.
The project's development timeline suggests a multi-year rollout, with a potential opening in the early 2030s. The Abu Dhabi park is expected to introduce unique elements, including the integration of water into the signature castle design. The concept aims to blend global storytelling with local cultural elements, creating an "authentically Disney and distinctly Emirati" experience.
